Fees and Insurance
Private pay puts you in the driver’s seat when it comes to choosing the quality of counseling you desire and the level of privacy you prefer. With insurance based models, therapists are required to:
Give you a diagnosis:
If you meet diagnostic criteria, the diagnosis goes onto your permanent medical file. This may impact insurance as it can be seen as a pre-existing condition.
If you do not meet diagnostic criteria, your treatment may not be covered
Insurance policies dictate the amount of time we can spend together, by a pre-determined amount of sessions
Many insurance plans provide some degree of out of network reimbursement - check with your insurance company to be sure.
